PTSD Tools That Actually Help: Grounding, Prayer, and Daily Wins

Living with PTSD means some days feel like battles before breakfast. Over the years, I’ve collected tools that actually make a difference.

1. Grounding

When my mind slips into the past, I name:

  • 5 things I see

  • 4 things I touch

  • 3 things I hear

  • 2 things I smell

  • 1 thing I taste

2. Prayer & Scripture

Verses like “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10) help me remember I’m anchored in something bigger than my fear.

3. Daily Wins

No matter how small—making the bed, taking Harley for a walk—each win is proof I’m still moving forward.
