Why Do We Call it “Common Sense”

Why do we call it “common sense”
when it’s clearly not that common?

You’d think basic logic would be… basic.
But somehow, it’s treated like an advanced skill.

People ignore obvious signs, make avoidable mistakes,
and then act surprised when things go wrong.

Here’s the truth:

Thinking before you act isn’t complicated.
Paying attention isn’t a special talent.
Taking a second to use your brain shouldn’t be optional.

But somewhere along the way,
the bare minimum started feeling like too much for some people.

And that’s the real problem.

So no—it’s not about being smarter than everyone else.
It’s about slowing down, thinking clearly,
and actually using the sense you’ve got.

Because “common sense” only works…
if people choose to use it.
