Scripture Reflections: A Gift for the Soul
By Allen Dekeyser
Romans 8:11
“If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, then he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also bring your mortal bodies to life through his Spirit who dwells in you.”
⚡ There is resurrection power inside you.
Not just a story of the past—but a truth living in you right now. You’ve got the same Spirit that raised Christ up from the grave. So what in you needs resurrecting? Your hope? Your peace? Your fire for life? It’s already in motion.
Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
💤 This isn’t about performance—it’s about presence.
Christ is not asking for you to earn His rest. He’s offering it because you need it. So if you’re exhausted from trying to prove yourself or carry it all on your own, pause. Rest was never meant to be earned—it’s meant to be received.
Galatians 5:1
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
🚫 That old weight? Let it go.
Christ didn’t free you just for a taste of freedom—He freed you for a lifestyle of it. So if you’ve been slipping back into people-pleasing, shame, fear, or old patterns, this is your call to stand up again. That burden was never yours to keep.
Philippians 1:6
“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
🔧 You’re still under construction.
This is permission to be a work in progress. You don’t have to fake it, rush it, or hide your mess. You’re not finished yet, and that’s okay. God’s not done. And He doesn’t abandon projects He starts.
Isaiah 43:1-2
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine… When you pass through the waters, I will be with you.”
🌊 You’re not alone in the storm.
God doesn’t promise to keep the waters from rising—but He promises to be right there in the middle of it with you. That pain, that chaos, that silence? He’s in it. And He’s still calling you by name.
